Wilson's popularity travelled to America during 2014 when she was a guest as a character on Showtimes The Affair. She performed the role of Alison Lockhart, a young woman with a troubled background and falls in love with Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded a Golden Globe in 2015 for Best Actress, Television Series Drama. The series also starred Maura Terney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson told British Vogue, "I loved playing a character with both sides of this story." Noah thinks Alison is an attractive, confident and reckless self-image. In reality, however Alison sees herself as being dowdy. She stated: America has become so moralist and judging that what happens on the show are shocking. In 2018, Wilson quit the show to delight of a lot of viewers but was cryptic on further information. In the CBS This Morning Interview in August 2018, Wilson said, "I did want to quit, but I'm unable to speak about for it." The Little Stranger More recently Wilson has been pursuing film roles. Wilson appeared in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing Living in the Home, which premiered in 2016. She also portrayed the mysterious PT Stella as the Sci-Fi romance How to Talk to Girls in Parties. Adding more of the terror genre to her film credits, she's slated to star in the British film adaptation of The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller based on the novel written by Sarah Waters. Wilson executive produces the movie.
